I included 25, and not the maximum of 30 hashtags because you can then add up to five more very specific and unique hashtags to your post (more ideas for that later). Each group contains a mix of 25 small, medium and large hashtags. 7 Bookstagram Hashtag Groupsīearing in mind the above guidelines for hashtags, I created seven groups of hashtags below which you can copy and paste onto Instagram quickly and easily. I have removed these hashtags below to play it safe. If you use them, there is a chance your post will be "shadow banned," meaning it won't shop up in the feed or for other hashtags you use on the post. There is some intel that the hashtags #book and #books may be banned from Instagram. You also have a better chance of appearing in the "Top Posts" section of the hashtag, and not just the "Recent Posts" section. ![]() Smaller hashtags are usually more detailed ones, meaning that you may attract someone who was looking specifically for your exact type of post a few days later. The initial success of a post is important for Instagram to keep pushing it out to more of your followers, but you also don't want your post to die a fast death. So, if you also use smaller hashtags, your post will stay near the top of results longer, meaning that people are more likely to continue to see it over a longer period of time. But, it will get pushed down the results page fast. For example, if you use a larger, more general hashtag, like #book, it will be seen by more people immediately. You should use an array of relevant hashtags, which have results that are small, medium and large in number. You should not repeatedly use the exact same group of hashtags per Instagram guidelines. If you sync your posts to Twitter, you may find it helpful to put at least a few hashtags in the caption, so your tweet includes a few hashtags as well. Putting them in the comments hides them better, but it's up to you what you prefer. You can place hashtags in the photo caption or in a comment. You can use up to 30 hashtags per Instagram post. Hashtags make it easy to categorize an Instagram post, and you (and others) can follow them like you would a user and/or search for them in the search bar.
